1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the gardenslate.co.uk website and any orders you place with us. Please read them carefully before placing an order.

By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.

References in these Terms to "we", "us", or "our" mean Garden Slate and Stone Ltd.

3. Eligibility

To place an order with us you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Have a valid delivery address within the UK or Republic of Ireland

4. Products

We supply premium garden materials including decorative slate, aggregates, boulders, and landscaping stone. Product images on our website are for illustration only — natural stone varies in colour, size, and texture, and your delivered product may differ slightly in appearance from images shown.

We aim to keep stock and pricing accurate, but occasionally errors occur. If we discover a pricing or stock error after you have placed an order, we will contact you to either honour the corrected price or cancel the order with a full refund.

5. Placing an order

When you place an order on our website:

  1. You submit your order via our checkout (powered by Stripe)
  2. You receive an automatic email confirming we have received your order
  3. We review the order and confirm acceptance by email, at which point a binding contract is formed between you and us
  4. Until we accept your order, no contract exists. We may decline orders for any reason, including stock unavailability, suspected fraud, or delivery to addresses we cannot serve

6. Pricing and payment

  • All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are shown on the product page
  • We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is charged on our products
  • Prices exclude delivery, which is calculated at checkout based on your postcode
  • Payment is taken in full at the point of order via Stripe. We accept major credit and debit cards
  • We do not store your card details — these are handled directly by Stripe

7. Delivery

We deliver across mainland UK and the Republic of Ireland via H.F. Owen Transport and other partners.

  • Delivery zones and costs are calculated at checkout based on your postcode
  • Estimated delivery times are provided as guidance — they are not guaranteed
  • You must provide accurate delivery information. Failed deliveries due to incorrect addresses or unavailability may incur additional charges
  • Delivery is kerbside. Our drivers are not insured to take goods beyond a safe drop-off point. You are responsible for arranging help to move goods from the kerbside to their final location
  • Risk passes to you when goods are delivered to the address you provided

8. Inspection on delivery

We strongly recommend you inspect your order on delivery. If goods appear damaged, you must:

  • Note the damage on the delivery driver's paperwork before signing
  • Photograph the damage where possible
  • Contact us at info@gardenslate.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery

This helps us resolve issues with our delivery partners quickly.

9. Returns and refunds

Your right to return goods is set out in our separate Returns Policy, available at gardenslate.co.uk/returns. In summary:

  • You have 14 days from delivery to cancel your order (the "cooling-off period")
  • Bulk aggregates and loose stone cannot be returned for change-of-mind reasons once delivered, due to their nature
  • Faulty or damaged goods can always be returned at our cost, regardless of the above
  • Refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 14 days of us receiving the returned goods

10. Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under:

  • The Consumer Rights Act 2015 — goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described
  • The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 — your right to cancel within 14 days
  • Other applicable UK consumer protection law

If goods are faulty or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, or partial refund.

11. Our liability

  • We are responsible for losses you suffer as a direct result of our breach of these Terms or our negligence, where such losses were reasonably foreseeable
  • We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, losses caused by you (e.g. incorrect installation), or business losses (loss of profit, loss of opportunity)
  • Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited
  • Our maximum liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for that order

12. Use of our website

You agree to use our website lawfully and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the site for any fraudulent or unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to interfere with the site's security or operation
  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content (text, images, design) without permission

All website content, including product photography and copy, is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by UK copyright law.

13. Privacy

Our use of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at gardenslate.co.uk/privacy.

14. Events outside our control

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to: severe weather, transport disruption, fuel shortages, supplier failures, strikes, government action, or natural disasters. If such an event affects your order, we will contact you as soon as practicable.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version in force at the time you placed it. The latest version is always available on our website.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that if you are resident in Northern Ireland, Scotland, or the Republic of Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

If you have a complaint, please contact us first at info@gardenslate.co.uk and we will do our best to resolve it. If we cannot resolve a dispute, you may also be able to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/odr) or, for UK consumers, an alternative dispute resolution scheme.
